Scientists want to know how lobsters will live as oceans get warmer. A new study from William & Mary's Batten School found something amazing. Baby lobsters growing inside eggs have many tiny living things on them. These tiny living things are called bacteria. The bacteria on lobster eggs stay healthy even when water conditions change. This is good news for fishing. North America has a big lobster business worth lots of money.
The study looked at lobster eggs using special DNA tests. Scientists found thousands of different bacteria on the eggs. As baby lobsters grow bigger, more bacteria live on them. This happens because the baby lobsters get bigger too. The egg surface has more space for bacteria to live. The study also found that bacteria on the eggs are different from bacteria in the ocean water. The eggs make their own special home for certain bacteria.
