Residents of Gladstone, a small coastal town in northeastern Australia, were puzzled by strange metallic spheres discovered in September 2025. The objects were dark gray, unusually heavy, and appeared to have fallen from the sky. Local authorities initially struggled to identify their origin.
The Australian Space Agency has since confirmed that the spheres are likely debris from a space launch. According to their analysis, these objects probably separated from a rocket during a previous mission and eventually returned to Earth. Such incidents, while unusual, do occur when debris survives the intense heat of reentry.
The agency assured the public that the material poses no safety concerns. The discovery has nonetheless sparked scientific interest, with researchers planning to conduct further analysis on the metallic fragments.
