Tanya Reynolds joins the fourth season of Ted Lasso as Alice, an assistant coach. The hit series follows an optimistic American football coach who takes charge of a London football team. By the end of its third season, the show had won 13 Emmy awards and accumulated over 25 billion minutes of streaming viewership. Reynolds admits she had never watched the show before her audition.
The actress, who describes herself as something of a hermit, was surprised when she received the call to audition. She accepted because the role felt unlike anything she had previously done. A week after sending in her tape, she had a Zoom meeting with Jason Sudeikis, who created and stars in the show. He offered her the part immediately. She quickly binge-watched all three seasons and realized she wanted to be part of this world.
Reynolds has also built an impressive theatre career. She recently starred in the play 1536 alongside Margot Robbie as co-producer. Hollywood legend Meryl Streep came to see a performance and was moved to tears. Reynolds is perhaps best known for her breakout role as Lily Iglehart in Sex Education, the space-bun wearing teen who writes science fiction erotica. She has since appeared in The Decameron and The Other Bennet Sister.
