One Nation MP David Farley has robustly rejected Liberal counterpart Andrew Hastie's characterization of his party's platform as lacking substantive policy proposals. Appearing on ABC's Insiders, Farley contested Hastie's dismissive description of One Nation's offerings as mere thought bubbles. He maintained that comprehensive work underpins the minor party's policy framework.
Farley detailed One Nation's migration strategy, proposing an annual target of approximately 230,000. This encompasses net overseas migration of 130,000 alongside working holiday makers, Pacific workers, and skilled professionals through established programs that have supported economic growth for over a decade. He emphasized that these workers should be directed toward regional Australia, particularly in agricultural, engineering, and mining industries, rather than concentrated in metropolitan areas.
Before his election, Farley suggested Australia's current net overseas migration of 306,000 was probably not excessive. Party leader Pauline Hanson subsequently discussed these comments with him. The exchange underscores ongoing deliberations within One Nation regarding appropriate migration levels and their distribution across the country.
