Singer D4vd is facing murder charges in a Los Angeles courtroom. David Anthony Burke stands accused of fatally stabbing Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 14 years old at the time of her death. Prosecutors allege the musician killed her in April 2025 to prevent her from revealing the sexual nature of their relationship as his music career accelerated. Burke was arrested in April 2026 and has pleaded not guilty to murder and child sexual abuse charges.
Shocking evidence presented in court revealed the true nature of their relationship. The sexual abuse began when Rivas Hernandez was just 13 and Burke was 18. Text messages obtained from Burke's phone indicate that he impregnated the teenager. Rivas Hernandez subsequently received an abortion. In a January 2024 message, Burke apologized for "putting her through this". She responded that neither of them were capable of caring for a child.
Rivas Hernandez's remains were discovered last September in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke. The body had been decomposing for weeks, posing significant challenges to the autopsy. Dr. Grant Ho, who performed the postmortem examination, testified that he identified two penetrating stab wounds. One abdominal wound struck her liver, while a second wound to her left chest damaged her ribs. The court has viewed graphic photographs of her dismembered body this week.
