Many people care about climate change. They want cleaner energy and less pollution. But governments do not always do what people want. A thinker named Antonio Gramsci asked this same question long ago. He wondered why people did not fight against unfair leaders. Gramsci was in prison in Italy long ago. He watched how ordinary people followed rules that hurt them. He called this idea hegemony. This means powerful people's ideas become everyone's ideas.
Polls show most people support climate action. In the UK, 60 percent want clean energy. In Germany, 81 percent want more wind and solar power. Italian people support renewable energy too. Even in the United States, 57 percent want the government to do more about climate problems. But popular support does not always lead to real change. The ideas of powerful groups often control how people think.
