Amazon Buys Globalstar for $11.57 Billion to Challenge Starlink

Amazon announced plans to buy the satellite company Globalstar for $11.57 billion. This deal will help Amazon compete with Elon Musk's Starlink, which currently dominates the satellite internet market. Amazon wants to launch thousands of satellites into low orbit by 2029. The company must deploy about half of them by July 2026 due to a regulatory requirement. Amazon currently operates over 200 satellites and plans to offer satellite internet services later this year.
