A team went on a ship. The ship is Falkor (too). People from four countries were on the team. They studied the middle part of the ocean. This part is between the bottom and the top. It is 90 percent of all living space on Earth. But people know very little about it. The team left from a city in Brazil. They worked for two weeks. They found 31 new sea creatures.
The team used a special tool. The tool is a microscope. Its name is the Squid. It helps see tiny things on the ship. It uses light to show small parts of animals. For the first time, they could see living cells. They watched cells make tissue. Old ways need many weeks in a lab. The new way is very fast.
They found many kinds of jellyfish. They found siphonophores. They found comb jellies with shiny hair. Dr. Karen Osborn was the lead scientist. She works at a big museum in America. She says the middle ocean has many amazing creatures. People do not know much about them. The team found many creatures very fast. This will help people learn about ocean life.
